Investigations in Environmental Science: a Case-based Approach to the Study of Environmental Systems (or CASES), is a one-year high school environmental science course that employs geographic visualization and data analysis tools in an inquiry-based approach to science education.

GEODE Director Edelson joins the National Geographic Society. Daniel Edelson, director and founder of the GEODE Initiative, became Vice President for Education and Children's Programs at the National Geographic Society on 12/3/07. According to Edelson, "This new position represents an exciting opportunity to extend the work of the GEODE Initiative." Details about the long-term future for GEODE Initiative efforts are still being worked out. However, Edelson and the GEODE team are committed to ensuring that these efforts are sustained. During the transition period, all the GEODE projects and products are continuing without interruption at Northwestern under the direction of the GEODE Associate Directors, Meridith Bruozas, Kemi Jona, and Steven McGee. See the NGS press release here.
