Unit 1 Alignment with National Science Standards
Unit 1 Learning Goal
Students will learn to develop a land use plan that balances the needs of a fragile ecosystem and the needs of a growing human population. To support their plans, students will apply knowledge of food webs, interdependent relationships, growth in human populations, and patterns of resource use. Students will justify their plans using evidence.

Unit 2 Alignment with National Science Standards
Unit 2 Learning Goal
Students will learn to evaluate an area to determine the best type of power generation for that area, and to recommend the best location for the power plant. To support their recommendations, they will apply their knowledge of non-renewable fossil fuels, the impacts of fossil fuel power plants, the inputs and outputs of alternative types of power generation, predictions of environmental impacts, and the energy needs of growing communities.

Unit 3 Alignment with National Science Standards
Unit 3 Learning Goal
Students will develop a water resource plan to balance the needs of farmers, residents and the environment. To develop the plan, students will use their understanding of farm water use and irrigation, dam and river flow relationships, water storage in aquifers, and the environmental effects of altering natural and historic flows of water. more
