2006 My World Developers Workshop Travel Information

Ground Transporation

Upon arrival at O'Hare call American Taxi at 847-255-9600. Tell them your destination Hilton Garden Inn, in downtown Evanston and they will give you instructions on where to meet the cab. The meeting point will be in the middle aisle and will be designated something like "pre-arranged rides". They will dispatch a cab from a waiting area nearby. Because of security, it may take 15 minutes from the time you call. Be sure you pay attention to the cab number they give you. There will be a lot of cabs from American Taxi. The cabs waiting at the curb are city of Chicago cabs. They typically do not know how to get to suburban destinations, and they charge by the meter. American Taxi will be a flat rate ($28 plus tip). You can use cash or credit card. Be sure to get a receipt from the driver for reimbursement.

The ride is about 30-45 minutes.

Air

For your air travel, you have the option of making your own reservations and getting reimbursed or booking them through our travel agent and having them charged directly to us.  To help us keep costs down, please book your air travel as soon as possible.

Our travel agent is called Tower Travel.  When you call them, tell them you are traveling with a Northwestern University group.  Our group name is "My World Developer’s Workshop".  They are ready to receive your calls.

Lodging

We've arranged for accommodations at the Hilton Garden Inn, in downtown Evanston for Saturday and Sunday nights, with an optional third night on Monday for those who elect to stay Monday afternoon to continue work on their activities. These rooms will be billed directly to the project.  We will be providing them with a guest list, so the only action you need to take on the hotel is to let us know if you will be staying over Monday night.  If you would like to arrive early, contact us and we can arrange for a room at your expense. There will be a shuttle between the hotel and campus. For those who would like to take the short walk to campus be sure to bring warm clothing and appropriate footwear.
